Eligibility Criteria

All eligibility conditions—including age, educational qualification and required post-qualification work experience—will be determined as on 1 August 2026.

Manager – Branch Management

Candidates applying for the 100 Generalist Officer posts must meet the following conditions:

  • Age: 23 to 33 years.
  • Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a Government-recognised university or an equivalent Central Government-recognised qualification.
  • Experience: At least three years as an officer in a scheduled public-sector or scheduled private-sector bank, including at least two years in branch banking.
  • Preference: Candidates who have worked as a Scale-I Branch Head will receive preference.

Successful candidates will be posted anywhere in India and, after probation, will be posted as Branch Heads.

IT, Cyber Security and Audit Posts

IOB’s IT-related roles require specialised qualifications and substantial experience. For Manager–IT, applicants need a B.E./B.Tech in relevant engineering disciplines, MCA, or M.Sc. in Computer Science/IT, plus at least five years of post-qualification IT experience, including three years in the banking or BFSI sector.

The bank seeks experience in areas such as:

  • Full-stack development, Java/.NET, Spring Boot, microservices and APIs.
  • Linux or Windows server administration.
  • Network administration, firewall management and network security.
  • Cloud engineering using AWS, Azure, OCI or private-cloud platforms.
  • Database administration, DevOps, automation and IT service management.
  • Business continuity planning, disaster recovery and infrastructure virtualisation.

Senior Manager–IT applicants require at least eight years of post-qualification IT experience, including five years in banking/BFSI. IT security, audit, database, networking and cyber-security posts have their own specific qualifications, certifications and experience criteria. Candidates must therefore check the post-wise eligibility table in the official notification rather than relying only on the broad qualification description.

Credit and Risk Posts

For Manager–Credit and Senior Manager–Credit, eligible qualifications include a bachelor’s degree along with MBA (Finance), PGDBA, PGDBM, MMS (Finance), CA or CMA.

  • Manager–Credit: Age 23–33 years; three years of experience in a bank or financial institution, including at least two years in credit.
  • Senior Manager–Credit: Age 25–35 years; six years of experience in a bank or financial institution, including at least four years in credit.
  • Senior Manager–Risk: Age 25–35 years; candidates need finance, risk, mathematics, statistics, or economics credentials as prescribed, along with five years of relevant officer-level experience in risk, credit, forex, treasury, or finance.

Experience involving MSME or corporate advances is preferred for credit positions. Certifications such as JAIIB, CAIIB, IIBF courses, FRM and risk-management qualifications may be advantageous where stated.

Assistant Manager – Security

The Assistant Manager–Security post is reserved for candidates with qualifying defence, paramilitary or police service backgrounds.

  • Age: 30 to 45 years.
  • Qualification: Graduation plus a minimum three-month computer/IT certificate, or computer/IT as a subject at graduation level or later.
  • Experience: Retired JCO/equivalent with at least five years as a JCO in the Army, Navy or Air Force; or equivalent paramilitary personnel with the prescribed service/rank conditions; or police officers of at least Inspector rank with the required service history.
  • Serving personnel whose discharge date is on or before 30 September 2026 may also apply, subject to other notification conditions.

A firefighting or fire-safety certificate is desirable.

Age Relaxation

Upper-age relaxation is available as per Government of India rules:

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years.
  • OBC–Non-Creamy Layer candidates: 3 years.
  • PwBD candidates: 10 years.
  • Persons affected by the 1984 riots: 5 years.
  • Eligible ex-servicemen, commissioned officers, ECOs and SSCOs: 5 years, subject to applicable conditions.

Candidates claiming relaxation must submit the required certificates during the recruitment process. The normal upper-age limits listed in the post-wise eligibility conditions apply to General and EWS candidates.
