Applicants should check the category-wise discipline, airport/station allocation, domicile condition, eligibility cut-off and document requirements directly in the official advertisement before submitting the application.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates must satisfy the qualification and other eligibility rules mentioned in the AAI NR Apprentice notification.

  • Graduate Apprentice applicants generally need a full-time regular degree in the relevant discipline, such as B.E., B.Tech, BCA or another prescribed qualification.
  • Diploma Apprentice applicants generally need a full-time regular engineering diploma in the notified discipline.
  • ITI Trade Apprentice applicants must hold an ITI/NCVT certificate in the relevant notified trade.
  • Candidates must be Indian nationals and meet the Northern Region domicile requirements specified by AAI.
  • Applicants who have already completed apprenticeship training, are currently undergoing apprenticeship elsewhere at the same qualification level, or have prescribed post-qualification work experience may be ineligible.
  • Candidates should ensure their NATS or NAPS profile is complete and verified before applying.

AAI’s previous Northern Region apprenticeship notice specified that candidates who had already undergone apprenticeship training or had one year or more of job experience after obtaining the essential qualification were not eligible. It also clarified that an apprenticeship is a training engagement and does not create a right to regular employment in AAI.

How to apply online

Graduate and Diploma candidates must normally use the NATS portal, while ITI candidates must apply through the NAPS/Apprenticeship India portal. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Visit the official AAI website and download the AAI NR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification.
  2. Read the full advertisement, especially the discipline-wise vacancies, domicile requirement, qualification, age conditions, training location and last date.
  3. Register on the appropriate portal:
  1. Complete your profile with correct personal details, educational qualification, marks, mobile number, email address and bank-related information where required.
  2. Search for the AAI Northern Region establishment exactly as mentioned in the notification.
  3. Select only the eligible discipline and submit the application before 16 September 2026.
  4. Save the submitted application screenshot or acknowledgement number for future reference.

AAI has previously instructed applicants to apply only through the specified NATS/NAPS portals; applications sent through other modes were not considered. Candidates were also advised to use a working email address because document-verification and selection-related communication is generally sent through the registered email ID.

Selection process and stipend

The selection process is expected to be merit-based. AAI generally prepares the provisional shortlist based on marks secured in the qualifying examination. If two candidates have the same percentage, date of birth and then date of passing may be considered for deciding merit order. Shortlisted candidates must attend document verification and produce original certificates. Final selection is subject to successful verification and medical fitness.

In a recent AAI Northern Region apprenticeship notification, the monthly stipend was listed as:

Apprentice categoryMonthly stipend
Graduate Apprentice₹15,000
Diploma Apprentice₹12,000
ITI Trade Apprentice₹9,600

The final stipend for the 205-post recruitment should be verified from Advertisement No. 01/2026, as terms and rates can differ by recruitment cycle.

Important points

  • This is an apprenticeship training opportunity, not a permanent AAI job.
  • There is generally no application fee for AAI apprenticeship applications; confirm this in the latest notification.
  • Apply for the correct discipline only. Applying for multiple disciplines may lead to rejection where the notification prohibits it.
  • Keep your marksheets, qualification certificates, caste/EWS/PwBD certificates where applicable, domicile certificate, identity proof, passport photograph and medical fitness documents ready.
  • Do not wait until the last day, as portal traffic or incomplete profile verification can delay submission.
  • Verify every claim, date and vacancy figure on the official AAI recruitment page and in the official PDF before publishing or applying, because online recruitment summaries may occasionally carry a different advertisement number or recruitment-cycle detail.
