United India Insurance Company Limited (UIIC) has announced recruitment for 225 Administrative Officer (Scale I) posts in the Generalist and Hindi Officer disciplines. UIIC is a Government of India-owned public-sector general insurance company. The selected officers may be posted at offices across India, with a substantial number of vacancies indicated for the Western and Southern Zones.

There is also horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), as specified in the official recruitment notification. A candidate may apply for only one discipline—either Generalist or Hindi Officer. Multiple registrations or appearing for both disciplines can result in cancellation of candidature. Existing UIIC Administrative Officers in Scale I are not eligible for this recruitment.

Eligibility Criteria

Age limit

Applicants must be between 21 and 30 years as on 30 June 2026. In practical terms, the candidate should have been born not earlier than 30 June 1996 and not later than 30 June 2005, with both dates included.

Applicable upper-age relaxations include:

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 years
  • PwBD candidates: 10 years
  • Ex-servicemen with at least five years of military service: 5 years
  • Existing confirmed employees of public-sector general insurance companies: 8 years
  • Widows, divorced women, and legally separated women who have not remarried: up to 9 years

The cumulative maximum age after relaxation cannot exceed 45 years.

Educational qualification

For the Generalist discipline, candidates should possess a graduate or postgraduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university. The minimum required marks are 60% for UR/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. Working knowledge of computers is mandatory.

For the Hindi Officer discipline, candidates must hold a master’s degree with Hindi and English in one of the combinations prescribed in the notification—for example, Hindi or English as a compulsory/elective subject or medium at degree level. The same minimum marks rule applies: 60% for general-category candidates and 55% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants.

Candidates with CGPA/OGPA/SGPA must be able to provide their university’s official conversion formula or certificate during document verification.

The fee is non-refundable once paid.

Selected candidates will receive basic pay under the scale of ₹82,485–₹1,56,745, along with admissible allowances and benefits. The approximate gross monthly salary at metropolitan centres is stated to be around ₹1.10 lakh, subject to applicable rules and posting location. Benefits include medical facilities, gratuity, Leave Travel Subsidy, group personal accident insurance, National Pension System coverage, and leased accommodation as per company policy.

Selected candidates will undergo a one-year probation period, which may be extended at UIIC’s discretion. They must also clear the non-life Licentiate Examination during probation and execute a service bond to serve the company for at least five years, including probation.

Selection Process and Apply Steps

The recruitment process has three broad stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination
    Online objective test of 100 marks in English Language, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. This stage is qualifying in nature.
  2. Main Examination
    Generalist candidates will face an objective test and a descriptive test covering essay and letter writing. Hindi Officer candidates will have objective and descriptive sections focused on English, reasoning, Hindi/English professional knowledge, general awareness, computer knowledge, translation, essays, and letters.
  3. Interview
    Candidates who qualify in the main examination will be shortlisted for interview, generally up to three times the number of vacancies in the relevant category and discipline. The final merit weightage is 75% for the main examination and 25% for the interview. There is a one-fourth negative marking penalty for each incorrect objective-test answer.
