Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the prescribed educational qualification, nursing registration, age, and—where applicable—experience requirements as on 3 October 2026, the closing date for online applications.

Educational qualification

Applicants can qualify through either of the following routes:

  • B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing from a recognised university or institute; or
  • Regular B.Sc. Nursing from a recognised university or institute; or
  • Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from a recognised university or institute.

B.Sc. Nursing candidates must also be registered as a Nurse or Nurse and Midwife (RN/RM) with the relevant State Nursing Council.

Alternatively, candidates may apply with:

  • A Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from a recognised board or council.
  • Registration as a Nurse or Nurse and Midwife with the State Nursing Council.
  • At least one year of experience in a hospital having a minimum of 50 beds, obtained after completing the GNM qualification.

A key point for GNM applicants is that the experience certificate should clearly mention the employment period, duties, issuing authority, reference number, and issue date. PGIMER will count only experience gained after acquiring the essential qualification.

After the CBT, PGIMER will shortlist candidates category-wise at approximately three times the number of advertised posts, along with tied candidates and eligible reserved-category candidates scoring above the unreserved cut-off. Shortlisted applicants’ online forms and uploaded documents will then be checked before the final merit-based selection and document verification.

The CBT syllabus will broadly follow the prescribed nursing educational qualifications, professional course content, and relevant practice/experience. Hyderabad is included among the likely examination cities, which may be particularly useful for applicants from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh; however, centre allocation depends on availability and PGIMER may alter centres for administrative or technical reasons.

Applicants should rely on PGIMER’s official website for the exam date, admit-card notice, corrigenda, CBT result, document-verification schedule, and final result. Individual communication may not be sent for every update.
