The notification includes 105 UR, 27 EWS, 10 OBC-NCL, 40 SC and 19 ST vacancies. It also provides horizontal reservation for 20 Ex-Servicemen posts and one PwBD post, wherever applicable.
Eligibility Criteria
The age limit for Group C posts is 18 to 36 years as on 1 August 2026. For the Track Maintainer post, classified as an erstwhile Group D position, the age limit is 18 to 45 years. Relaxations are available for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD candidates and eligible serving KRCL employees as per the official rules.
Educational qualifications vary according to the post. Junior Engineer posts generally require a relevant engineering diploma or degree, while Senior Section Engineer, Station Master, Section Controller and Commercial Supervisor positions have separate post-specific education requirements. Technician-III and Assistant Loco Pilot applicants must possess the prescribed ITI, Course Completed Act Apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification in the relevant trade. Candidates must verify the detailed qualification, medical standard and suitability conditions in Annexure-A of the notification before applying.
A significant eligibility condition applies to this recruitment. Preference is given first to eligible land loser candidates, then to eligible candidates registered with Employment Exchanges along the Konkan Railway route, and thereafter to eligible domiciles of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, along with eligible KRCL employees. Track Maintainer vacancies are restricted to eligible land loser candidates only.
Salary Details
Selected candidates will receive pay under the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix. The initial basic pay differs by post:
- Senior Section Engineer: Level 7, ₹44,900.
- Junior Engineer, Section Controller, Station Master and Commercial Supervisor: Level 6, ₹35,400.
- Goods Train Manager: Level 5, ₹29,200.
- Technician-III, ESTM-III and Assistant Loco Pilot: Level 2, ₹19,900.
- Track Maintainer-IV: Level 1, ₹18,000.
Additional allowances and benefits will be admissible as per KRCL and Central Government rules.

Candidates must pay an examination fee of ₹1,180, including ₹1,000 application fee plus 18% GST, along with applicable payment gateway charges for each selected examination group. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, female, minority, EBC and PwBD categories can receive a refund after appearing in the CBT, subject to deduction of bank charges.
