Indian Overseas Bank LBO Recruitment 2026 Notification Out for 250 Vacancies, Apply Online

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released the IOB LBO Recruitment 2026 notification for 250 Local Bank Officer (LBO) posts in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). Eligible graduates can submit their online applications through the official IOB Careers page from 8 August 2026 to 24 August 2026.

The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement No. HRDD/RECT/02/2026-27. Candidates will be appointed in the state for which they apply, so applicants must carefully check the state-wise vacancy details and mandatory local-language requirement before completing the online form.

The IOB LBO Apply Online link is active on the bank’s official Careers portal. No offline application mode will be accepted. Candidates should avoid waiting until the last date because registration, document upload and online payment must all be completed before the application window closes.

IOB LBO Vacancy 2026 Details

Indian Overseas Bank has announced vacancies across four states. Applicants can apply for only one state and should have reading, writing and speaking proficiency in that state’s prescribed local language.

Of the 250 vacancies, 36 are reserved for SC candidates, 18 for ST, 80 for OBC, 22 for EWS and 94 for UR/General category candidates. The bank has noted that the vacancy count is provisional and may change according to its requirements.

A key point for candidates is that selected Local Bank Officers will remain posted in their chosen state for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV grade, whichever is earlier. Therefore, applicants should select the state only after considering their local-language proficiency and willingness to work there long term.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for IOB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026, candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Applicants must possess a valid marksheet or degree certificate on the date of online registration.

The age limit is 20 to 30 years, calculated as on 1 August 2026. In other words, applicants should have been born not earlier than 2 August 1996 and not later than 1 August 2006, with both dates included.

Age relaxation is available as per Government of India rules:

• SC/ST candidates: 5 years
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 years
• PwBD candidates: 10 years
• Persons affected by the 1984 riots: 5 years
• Eligible ex-servicemen and specified commissioned officers: 5 years

Candidates must also meet the local-language requirement for the state chosen in the application. Those who studied the prescribed language in Class 10 or Class 12 can submit relevant proof. Other shortlisted candidates will need to qualify in the Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT) before appearing for the personal interview.

IOB LBO Application Fee 2026

Applicants need to pay the prescribed non-refundable application fee or intimation charge through online payment methods such as debit card, credit card, internet banking, BHIM or UPI.

Candidates should retain the e-receipt and final submitted application form for future reference. Once submitted, the application cannot be withdrawn and the fee will not be refunded or adjusted against any other IOB recruitment process.

IOB LBO Selection Process

The Indian Overseas Bank LBO selection process includes an online examination, Local Language Proficiency Test where applicable, and personal interview. Candidates who clear the online examination will proceed to the next stages based on IOB’s requirements and eligibility verification.

The online examination will carry 200 marks and consist of 140 objective-type questions over a duration of three hours.

There will be negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to each wrongly answered question. The final merit list will be prepared state-wise and category-wise, with online exam and interview scores carrying an 80:20 weightage.
